They are funny looking huh? The short stubby one is short and stubby because that one was planted in the ground where I hadn't lossened the soil so it had no where to go. You can imagine my astonishment when I pulled the stubby one out of the ground! The longer ones were grown in pots with soft and loose potting soil. BIG difference huh?!
The stubby round one was definitely not as sweet as the larger longer carrot. I should describe the green foliage of each first. The short stubby one had huge tall green foliage on top. Naive amateur me assumed the huge green foliage meant better carrots (I would get so excited looking out my window thinking my carrots were doing great!). But apparently, what was really going on was that since the carrot had no where to grow in the ground (because I did not losen the soil around the planting), all the nutrients went to the green stalk and not the carrot. :( The longer carrots had shorter foliage on top showing that the growth was focused on the body of the carrot rather than the foliage, resulting in a very sweet young carrot taste. My son didn't mind though, chomped on all of them!

I would be interested to know how the short stubby one tastes in comparison to the normal one.
